Ing. Josef Vacl, CSc has taught some of the courses that he prepared at University of New York in Prague since the year of 2011. From 2004 to 2007, he taught the basics of marketing as part of the Marketing Course as well as public relations for advanced students as part of the Advanced Public Relations Course. Lately, Josef Vacl teaches the basics of communication and public relations as part of the Public Relations Principles Course. This course teaches the history of public relations and explains the basic activities of PR and internal and external communication. It also includes basic tools and methods and their use, the preparation of a strategic communication and PR plan and the tactical procedures of follow-up implementation. Furthermore, the students learn how to prepare a PR campaign for different target groups and learn the basics of corporate and brand communication. This course also teaches how to prepare press releases and press conferences and the principles of cooperation with media in general. Another part of the course also explains how to minimize the impact of critical situations, how to earmark potentially dangerous situations and what to do in such a case. The course also includes many case studies that Josef Vacl lately realized for different clients, such as ADEX AGRO, Boeing, Český svaz pivovarů a sladoven (Czech Beer and Malt Association), GE Capital Bank, LAUFEN, Lexmark, PIRELLI, VISA International, Winterthur penzijní fond (Winterthur Pension Fund) and others. UNYP asked Josef Vacl to teach the Public Relations Principles Course again in the spring semester of 2017.

In 2018 Josef Vacl has prepared and launched the new course The World of Beer: Economic and Communications Context. The program was presented also in 2019. The course will be presented again in 2022.

Josef Vacl has been a member of the state examining board at UNYP since the year of 2010. In 2010, Josef Vacl received an award from University of New York in Prague for his excellent teaching results and pedagogic activity in the academic year of 2009 – 2010.

In the year of 2007, Josef Vacl started to regularly teach, oversee and review the bachelor’s theses and became a member of the state examining board at College of Tourism, Hotel and Spa Management.

He prepared and headed the Marketing Communication Course for the second-year students of College of Tourism, Hotel and Spa Management. Through case studies, the students learn the principles, methods and tools of marketing communication and advertising, public relations, direct sale, etc.

In the academic year of 2011/2012, he was asked to teach the Marketing Services Course for the students of full-time and combined study programs. The goal of this course was to explain the marketing tools, methods and procedures in marketing services. The course included the basic approaches to marketing, the preparation of marketing strategies, the system of decision-making, SWOT analyses, hotel and spa analyses, PEST analyses, market analyses, client analyses and follow-up segmentation, targeting and positioning. The students learned about a broadened marketing mix in tourism, hotel and spa services. Part of the course was also the presentation of new communication tools and the basics of marketing research. The students then prepared and presented their marketing plan.

In 2011, Josef Vacl started to cooperate with the University of Business in Prague (Vysoká škola obchodní). He supervised several bachelor’s theses in the 2012 summer semester. In the 2012/2013 winter semester, he started lecturing for the specialization of the lessons for guides. At present, Vacl supervises bachelor’s and diploma dissertations.

For several years, Josef Vacl was the member of the Academic Board of College of Tourism, Hotel and Spa Management. On 18 December 2012, he became a member of the Academic Board of College of Nursing.

Josef Vacl is the member of the Academic Council at the Prague Medical College (Vysoká škola zdravotní) since 2013.
